Frequently Asked Questions

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care. Naturopathic physicians focus on leveraging the healing power of nature to enable patients to restore and maintain optimum health. This practice of medicine is used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness using a combination of natural therapeutics and each patient’s innate self-healing abilities.Licensed naturopathic physicians are highly educated at a doctorate level, formally trained in naturopathic medical sciences, and legally licensed as physicians. They hold specialized credentials, are strictly regulated, and are required by law to follow a specific scope of practice. In addition to learning all of the medical sciences, naturopathic doctors study holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with courses in clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, physical medicine, IV and injection nutrient therapy, and patient counseling.

A typical initial consultation is 1 hour. Return visits are typically 30 minutes. If your ND feels that more time is needed or you wish for more time, we offer 45- and 60-minute extended follow-up consultations. These consults will always be discussed first and agreed upon by you. We offer 15-minute brief visits for acute care concerns like children’s ear infections, colds or flu. IV consultations are 30 minutes to review pertinent health history, history of infections, allergies, and more.

This might involve further investigation and testing suggestions, or suggestions for natural remedies or conventional medications. Your plan moving forward will be explicitly outlined and communicated clearly with you.

Depending on your health concern, current state of health, and natural therapies suggested, the number of visits needed to see an improvement can vary. After an initial consultation, we typically see patients within 2-4 weeks for a second consult. After that it might be weekly, monthly, or every 3 months, depending on the treatment provided.Your naturopathic physician will be very clear at your first consult and will outline the plan moving forward.
